Kevin's 65 GMC
I recently inherited this '65 GMC from my father. He owned this truck for many, many years. Although he had a couple other vehicles, he chose to make this one his daily driver. I was about to relinquish the truck to an uncle, when another uncle told me that this truck was near and dear to my father and that he would want nothing more than to have me and my sons restore it.
My journey begins. So far all I have done is replace gaskets and clean out the engine. It was pretty mucked up. I have also replaced the front brakes.
The truck is in California right now. This summer, I will fly out to CA, rewire it and drive it to Delaware for disassembly and restoration. This will be my first restoration project. Right now the truck has the original V-6 305E, a not so original 4 speed tranny, and in case you were wondering what that thing was sticking up behind the cab was, it's part of a tilt bed pully/winch system that my dad put on to make unloading it easier. I plan on keeping the motor and maybe the tranny. Immediate plans call for replacing the front brakes with discs, and running a dual exhaust, and of course rewiring it. The winch assisted tilt bed may or may not stay, I haven't decided yet.
More pics to come. Thanks Kevin.
